|| As authorized by the Clean Water Act, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program controls water pollution by regulating discharge pollutants into waters of the United States.
The goal of provision C.3 is for local jurisdictions to use their planning authorities to include appropriate design measures for new and redevelopment projects to control stormwater runoff pollutant discharges. Contractors and developers performing work within the Town are also required to follow specific development and building standards related to the NPDES and Construction General permits
For this reason, all projects are required to complete the Town of Los Gatos NPDES C.3 Data Form.
For more information, contact Engineering Services at (408) 399-5771 or by email.
The Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP) has developed a C.3 Stormwater Handbook that provides guidance and serves as a very useful resource for developing and implementing stormwater control measures for projects. The handbook can be accessed and downloaded from their website. Key chapters to review include:
- Chapter 4: Site Design Measures
- Chapter 5: General Technical Guidance for Treatment Measures
- Chapter 6: Technical Guidance for Stormwater Treatment and Site Design Measures
- Appendix A: Infiltration Guidelines
- Appendix B: Sizing Criteria Worksheets and Examples
- Appendix K: Standard Specifications for Lot-Scale Measures for Small Projects
